Home renovations are no small feat. If you have not lived through a bad one you almost certainly know somebody who has — bad contracting, an inexperienced crew, poor planning, a budget that was never real. Even a minor bathroom or kitchen remodel turns into a nightmare when it is approached badly.

What we find is that the cause is nearly always the same: poor planning and a failure to communicate. So we start with a process, the right crew, and a common understanding with you. We take the time up front to tie off the loose ends, because it matters that you get exactly what you asked for.

How we work

A four-step process, so nothing is a surprise

We like to be thorough and, at the same time, keep it simple for you. It is what lets us manage expectations on both sides and head off the misunderstandings that turn a straightforward job into an argument.

STEP 01

Understanding

We start by listening. What is on the property, what has to leave, what has to stay, how tight the access is and when you need it clear. On anything structural we walk the site first.

STEP 02

Quote & estimate

You get a written quote before anybody lifts anything. It accounts for labor, equipment, location, the estimated volume, recycling, disposal and donation fees, and fuel — so the number you approve is the number you pay.

STEP 03

Authorization

Approve the quote and we lock in a date and a time window, and agree an on-site point of contact so there is one person who can answer a question while the crew is working.

STEP 04

Commencement

The crew meets your point of contact, runs a quick walk-through against the scope, then loads out and hauls away. At your discretion we finish with a close-out audit so you can confirm the job is done as agreed.

Do you do the demolition as part of the remodel?

Yes, and it is the main reason to use us. We are a demolition and hauling contractor first, so the messiest phase of your remodel is the phase we are best at. There is no second crew to schedule and no week of debris in the driveway waiting for somebody else.

How long does a kitchen or bathroom remodel take?

It depends on the scope and on how much is being moved rather than replaced. Plumbing and electrical that stay where they are make for a much shorter job than a layout change. You get a schedule with the quote, after the consultation.

Can I stay in the house while you work?

Usually, for a single-room remodel. We contain the work area, control dust and keep a protected route out to the truck. For a whole-home renovation it is worth talking through honestly at the consultation, because the answer depends on which rooms and for how long.

Do I get the scope in writing before you start?

Always. Every project starts with a complimentary consultation and nothing begins until you have approved a written quote. Poor planning and unclear scope are what turn a straightforward remodel into a bad story, and they are avoidable.
